SWAC Football Players of the Week - Nov. 5

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southwestern Athletic Conference named quarterback Ben Anderson of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, linebacker Bill Ross of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, quarterback Daniel Duhart of Alabama State and punter/placekicker Bobby Wenzig of Alabama State its football players of the week for November 5, 2012.

Anderson received the Offensive Player of the Week award for the first time this season, while Ross captured defensive honors for the second time. Duhart was selected Newcomer of the Week and Wenzig earned top specialist honors for the sixth week.

Offensive Player of the Week
Ben Anderson
Arkansas-Pine Bluff

Anderson was 12-of-21 for 265 yards, four touchdowns and
one interception. He also had six carries for 33 yards and had 298 total yards in the Lions' win over Texas Southern, clinching the Western Division title..

Defensive Players of the Week
Bill Ross
Arkansas-Pine Bluff
SR • LB • 6-2 • 240 • Wetumpka, Alabama

Ross led all tacklers with 12 stops, eight solo and four assisted. He also had one tackle for a loss, one forced fumble,
one pass break-up and one interception, which he returned he returned 39 yards for a touchdown in UAPB's win over Texas Southern.

Newcomer of the Week
Daniel Duhart
Alabama State
RS-FRQB6-0 • 185 • Macon, Georgia

Duhart came off the bench in relied of injured starter Greg Jenkins and led the Hornets to a 35-21 come-from-behind win over Prairie View on the road. He completed 22-of-31 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns. In his most extensive action of the season, Duhart led the Hornets to scoring drives on six of the first 10 possessions. He threw second-quarter touchdown passes of 13 yards to T.C. McWilliams and 12 yards to Justin Robinson. He also directed a pair of fourth-quarter TD drives, when after overcoming a 14-0 deficit, the Hornets fell behind again by a point.

Specialist of the Week
Bobby Wenzig
Alabama State
JR • K/P • 6-2 • 185 • San Diego, California

For the sixth time this season, Wenzig claims the special teams top honor. He averaged 44.6 yards on eight punts with two over 50 yards. His long was 53 yards, and he had a career-high four downed inside the 20 yard line. Wenzig was 3-for-3 on PATs and was perfect on fieldgoal attempts from 42 and 24 yards.
