Alabama State 2, Alabama A&M 0
Montgomery, Ala.- Alexandria Cannon had a goal and an assist, while Kylee Hathaway had a shutout in goal as Alabama State beat rival Alabama A&M in the SWAC opener for both teams. Overall, ASU improved to 4-5-2, while A&M is still looking for their first win after falling to 0-11.

Cannon's assist came on the first goal of the game as she fed Lenna Lamas for the score in the 35th minute. The goal was Lamas' first goal of the season. Then, Cannon scored an unassisted goal in the 40th minute to make it 2-0.

Hathaway finished the game with five saves, while A&M keepers Linda Aboagye and Marissa Oehler combined for three.

A&M came up on the short end on the scoreboard despite outshooting the Lady Hornets 17-11.

Texas Southern 2, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 1
Pine Bluff, Ark. - Jessica Smith's goal in the 6th minute of overtime lifted Texas Southern (2-10, 1-0 in SWAC) to a win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-12-1, 0-1-1 in SWAC).

UAPB got on the board first with an unassisted goal by Czelene Carrera in the 37th minute. TSU tied the game just before the half when Florence Onyera assisted Briona Reid with the equalizer in the 44th minute.

The score remained tied until the end of regulation. Smith's goal came with 95:45 on the clock.

TSU outshot UAPB 21-13 in the match. Lady Tigers keeper Lilliana Hernandez finished with three saves, while UAPB netminder Alyssa Cobbs tallied five.

Prairie View 2, Grambling State 1
Grambling, La. - A late goal by Prairie View was the difference in a dramatic win. JD Devany beat Grambling goalkeeper in the 85th minute for the game-winner. Prairie View improved to 4-8 and 1-0 in SWAC, while Grambling fell to 1-5 and 1-1.

After a scoreless first half, Katherine Sheppard posted the first goal of the game off of a corner kicker from Yosselyn Aguilar in the 50th minute.

Grambling knotted things up in the 52nd minute when Khadajha Simpkins took a pass from Kenisha Butler and fired a shot past SWAC Goalkeeper of the Week Bianca Garza.

The score remained tied until Devany's unassisted winner at 84:47.

PVAM held the advantage in shots at 14-7. Garza picked up the win after making six saves. Meanwhile, Grambling keeper Nahomie Lagardere had eight saves but was saddled with the loss.

Mississippi Valley State 1, Jackson State 1 2OT
Itta Bena, Miss.- Both Mississippi Valley and Jackson State scored in the first half, but neither would find the back of the net again, settling for a tie on Friday afternoon. MVSU went to 1-8-1, but remained undefeated in SWAC play at 1-0-1. JSU improved to 1-7-1 and 0-0-1 after their conference opener.

The Lady Tigers struck early as Shatiaunna Banks scored on a corner kick by Alexandria Goutier early in the fourth minute.

Just before the half, Shanesse Spratt tied the game for MVSU on an unassisted goal in the 44th minute.

Shelby Willcocks had three saves in goal for MVSU, while Taylor Emerson had six for JSU.

Alcorn State 2, Southern 1
Alcorn State, Miss. - Deborah Quaye scored two goals to lead Alcorn past Southern. Both of the goals came in the second half for the Lady Braves as they won their SWAC opener.
