JACKSON, Miss. - The Jackson State University Division of Athletics has brought on Dean Joseph to lead its women's soccer program. Joseph, who served as the assistant women's soccer coach at the University of Louisiana-Monroe, has prior ties to the Southwestern Athletic Conference.

From 2003 to 2008, Joseph led the Mississippi Valley State Devilettes to two SWAC championships and two NCAA tournament appearances. While at Valley, he accumulated a 61-51-8 record. He was also nominated as coach of the year in 2005 and 2008. His Devilettes held a cumulative team GPA of 3.25.

Prior to taking the assistant position at ULM, Jospen led Gautier High School to the playoffs twice in his last three years with the high school. In the 2010 season Joseph led the team to the first final four in seven years

In his three years at Gautier High School Joseph placed 7 of 14 graduates into college soccer programs around the country. He was the first coach to place two players in a Division 1 Program. He was also instrumental in coaching Ashley Johnson who eventually became the leading goal scorer in school history with over 100 goals. Johnson was the leading goal scorer in the nation, scoring 50 goals, according to maxpreps.com.

Academics have been a huge part of the success of Joseph's programs. In his last year, the team GPA was 3.72, the highest cumulative GPA of any team at Gautier High School. The soccer program received the MHSAA Team Scholar Athlete Award in each of his three years at Gautier.

Joseph earned his bachelor's degree in sports management with a minor in marketing at Tiffin University in 1996 after transferring from William Carey, where he was ranked fourth in the nation in goals and his team was nationally ranked. During his time at Tiffin University, he won two conference titles and was among the top goal scorers in the conference. In 2007, he was inducted into the Tiffin University Hall of Fame.

Joseph is married to LaDana Joseph and has three children, Zoe, Cristin, and Ashton.
