Trio of SWAC Players Earn Preseason FCS Honors
Alabama State defensive back Kejuan Riley and offensive lineman Terren Jones joined Jackson State defensive lineman Joseph Lebeau on the 2012 Sports Network FCS Preseason All-America team.
Riley was a first team selection, while LeBeau was a member of the second team and Jones landed a spot on the third team.
The preseason first team returned 14
players who were named to the 2011 All-America first team by a national
panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters,
writers and other dignitaries this past December.
Overall, 35 players return to the three preseason teams.
Among the defensive backs, Riley topped the group with nine (9) interceptions. He was the Hornets second leading tackler with 75 (46 solo). He finished the season earning a spot on the All-SWAC first team.
Lebeau was the SWAC Newcomer of the Year in 2011. He was second on the JSU defense with 75 tackles (44 solo). He was third in the conference in sacks with 15.5 and ranked third in the nation in tackles for loss with 24.5.
Jones was a part of an offensive line at Alabama State that opened holes for Hornet back to rush for over 1,100 yards and gave ASU quarterback time to pass for nearly 2,500 yards.
