MVSU, TSU Win Titles, SU/GSU Tied, UAPB Slips
Mississippi Valley State and Texas Southern continued to roll, both locking up Division titles on Friday night. Jackson State locked up No. 2 in the East while Southern pulled even with Grambling State in the race for the last tournament spot in the West.
MVSU rolled over Alabama State 14-1 in six innings, while TSU ripped Grambling 9-1 in five. JSU blanked Alabama A&M 8-0 in five innings to assure themselves of second in the East. Meanwhile, Southern beat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 7-3, moving them into a tie for fourth place in the West. UAPB slipped into the No. 5 spot on the outside-looking in with the doubleheader to come on Saturday afternoon.
Prairie View, who has already locked up second in the West, is idle in SWAC play until they play JSU on May. Alcorn State, who is out of the hunt for a tournament spot, also has only one SWAC game on the schedule, coming against Texas Southern on May 6.
