Steamer, Guillory Earn SWAC Softball Weekly Honors
Junior Shawntall Steamer of Southern and senior LeEthel Guillory of Jackson State are the SWAC Player and Pitcher of the Week.
Despite a tough weekend for her team against Grambling, Steamer was a bright spot for the Jaguars, batting .571 (8-for-14) with a home run, double and triple. She had six RBI and had a slugging percentage of 1.000. In addition, Steamer walked twice and stole a pair of bases. The Freeport, Texas native scored four runs and had an on-base percentage of .625.
Guillory was a nightmare for Alabama State over the weekend as she earned all three of the wins. The Oberlin, La. native pitched 11.2 innings with a start and two games in relief. The game in which she started was a complete game win. Guillory allowed six hits and two unearned runs. She had 10 strikeouts and two walks as she went 3-0 against the Hornets.
