It took a couple days longer than expected, but Jackson State has clinched at least a share of the SWAC Eastern Division baseball title with a sweep over Alabama State.

The Tigers had to wait until Wednesday to confirm the 2-1 victory over the Hornets in the series finale. The game was halted in the eighth inning on Sunday after a near altercation between the two teams. JSU won the opening games of the series on Saturday, 5-1 and 10-6.

In other Eastern Division play, Alcorn State took two off of Mississippi Valley State in Itta Bena, and the Braves remain tied in the loss column with Alabama State even though Alcorn trails the Hornets by a game and a half for second place.

MVSU is two full games back of Alabama State, and Alabama A&M is still mathematically in the race, but four games shy of the Delta Devils for fourth place.
