McNeese State 3, Grambling State 0 (25-12, 25-11, 25-17)

LAKE CHARLES, La. - Grambling State fell to 1-7 on the season after a three-set loss at McNeese State Monday evening.

The Lady Tigers were slow to start in set one, falling behind 8-3 in the initial stages. A Chasity Nicks kill brough GSU within four, but the Lady Tigers were unable to halt the Cowgirls' momentum as the set progressed, falling behind by double-digits at the midway point en route to dropping the set.

After both sides traded volleys in set two, McNeese broke open a 5-5 game with an 8-1 run as Grambling gifted McNeese half of those points with miscues on offense. Similiar to the previous set, Grambling got to within five before fading down the stretch.

Grambling built a 4-3 lead as the final set began, but surrendered five straight points to the Cowgirls. Grambling managed to get within two on three separate occasions, but after a kill from GSU's Desiree Bishop and an McNeese error made the score 18-16, McNeese outscore Grambling 7-1 the rest of the way.

Nicks led the Lady Tigers with eight kills, adding six digs. L'Murriell Thrower posted 23 assists, and Kiara Freeman chipped in 13 digs.
