Houston, TX – Four Alcorn State players scored in double figures, the defense held the Jaguars to just 37 percent shooting as the Braves advanced to the SWAC Championship game with a convincing victory at the Toyota Center.

The Braves (18-13) jumped out ahead by 10 by halftime and then used a 13-0 run early in the second half to extend the lead to 22 with 14:44 remaining in the game. 

Marquis Vance scored nine of those points during the span with three lay ups, a free throw and a jumper. 

Reginal Johnson went for a double-double with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting with 10 rebounds while Vance finished with 14 points and 12 rebounds, one block and one steal. 

A.J. Mosby had 15 points and Maurice Howard added 13 as well for Alcorn State, who will be seeking their first championship since 2002. 

Shawn Prudhomme scored 16 points in his final game while Jared Sam had 10 points, 10 rebounds, two steals  and two blocks for Southern (15-18).
