Grambling State UniversityGearing up for 2014 season, the Grambling State University Lady Tigers have very high expectations. Coach Early and his team have set their sights on winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship.
“This is probably the season for us to win it. I feel very strongly about us winning the west, at the very least,” stated eighth year Head Coach Wilbert Early.
GSU has made some key changes to shift directions after the 2013’s 11-35 overall record. With players that are versatile and able to change positions without missing a beat, the Lady Tigers will make for a formidable opponent this season.
“We are looking at a more developed team from last year. The returning players have the leadership and experience to guide the freshmen,” said Early.
In the outfield sophomore Alyssa Fontillas will pace GSU. Yet, each player is expected to make a positive and dynamic impact this season. “We have one of the best outfields there is, with all the girls returning and gelling together during the fall”, he stated.”
Overall, the Lady Tigers have the chemistry and attitude to go far this season, the team will host their first game against Texas College.
