SDN Basketball Preview: Jackson State at Alcorn State

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The SWAC Digital Network will air the first of five men and women's basketball double headers on Saturday, January 11, when Jackson State faces Alcorn State inside Davey L. Whitney Complex.
The women's game is slated for 3 p.m. CST start with men's match-up to follow.
Rob Williamson will serve as the play-by-play along side color analyst L. Vann Pettaway.
On the women's side, ALC (1-12, 0-2) hosts after splitting two home games garnering its only win on the season against Omaha.
The Lady Braves lead the series between the Lady Tigers at 35-33 since 1983 and are led by one of the league's top scorers in Tierro Frost.
On the year, Frost is averaging 17.4 points per game. Angelic Wilson-Reid is ALC's top rebounder at 6.2 boards per contest.
JSU (4-8, 2-0) is riding back-to-back wins to open the SWAC schedule and are powered by the double-digit efforts of Ayanna Hardy-Fuller and Alisa Ross.
Hardy-Fuller, a preseason All SWAC selection, leads the Lady Tigers in points (11.0) and rebounds (6.5). Ross posts 10.1 points and is shooting a team best from the floor at 70 percent (38-of-54).
For the men, after opening the season with a 3-1 mark, ALC (3-11, 0-2) has dropped 10 consecutive games including both conference match ups. However, the Braves captured all of their wins on the year at home.
ALC's offense is powered by preseason All SWAC pick, LeAntwan Luckett and Octavius Brown. Luckett leads the team in points (14.6) and assists (2.2).
Brown holds the team's top spot in rebounds with a 6.6 average while scoring 10.4 per game.
The Tigers carry the series advantage at 94-68 but have loss four of the last six meetings dating back to the 2010-11 season.
Under first year head coach Wayne Brent, JSU (5-9, 1-1) picked up notable wins against Air Force and UT Martin during the non-conference slate. The Tigers are spearheaded by Julysses Nobles and Brandon West.
Nobles is averaging team highs in points (15.4) and assists (3.4) and his the league's third leading scorer. West enters the match-up as the only player in the SWAC averaging a double-double with 11.5 points and a SWAC best - 11.0 rebounds per game.
