SWAC Pair Added to 2013 CFPA Watch List

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A pair of Southwestern Athletic Conference football players, Dezmond Beverly (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) and Justin Robinson (Alabama State), were added to the College Football Performance 2013 Tight End Award Watch List.
Beverly and Robinson join four other SWAC standouts who were selected to the 2013 CFPA postional award list during the spring. Both join a list that includes 30 tight ends in Football Championship Subdivision (FCS).
Earlier this month, All-SWAC selections, Dray Joseph (QB - Southern), Lee Doss (WR - Southern), Ladarius Eckwood (WR - Arkansas-Pine Bluff) and Isaiah Crowell (RB - Alabama State) were named to the CFPA Watch List for their respective positions.
Four All-SWAC Selections Named to 2013 CFPA Watch List
Beverly (6-2 • 210 • Sr.) finished the season with a selection to last year's ALL-SWAC Football first team after help guiding UAPB to its first football crwon since 1966. He capped the season ranked in the top ten in the league and second among UAPB receivers with 46 receptions (3.8 per game). He added six touchdowns with 434 yards (9.4 per catch) and was tied second in scoring on the Golden Lions roster. Robinson also helped anchor an offense line that led the SWAC in rushing (200.2 per game).
Robinson (6-3 • 245 • So.) was a member of an ASU offense that led the SWAC in scoring with 32 points per game last year. He ended the season with seven receptions for 94 yards and three touchdowns.
All CFPA recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams. All players are eligible for awards at their respective positions; players are not preemptively eliminated from consideration. The winner will be announced January 8, 2014.
