Prairie View duo Preston Woodard (top) and Jordan Powell moved on to the next round of track & field competition as the pair will compete in the 2013 NCAA West Men's Preliminary Round next week on the campus of The University of Texas.

Meanwhile, Jackson State Olympian Anaso Jobodwana will highlight a group of Tiger men’s track and field team members at the East Regional, which will be held in Greensboro, North Carolina on the North Carolina A&T State campus.

Jobodwana will participate in the 100 meter dash and the 200 meter dash, while teammate B.J. Leewill also participate in the 100 meter dash. Bentrell McGee will compete in the 110 meter hurdles and the JSU 4x100 meter relay team and the 4x400 meter relay teams will also compete.

The NCAA East Regional is scheduled for May 23 through May 25.

Woodard returns to the preliminary round for the third straight year as his jump of 52-6 at the Texas State Invitational in April ranks sixth in the West Region.  Once again, Woodard has his sights set on returning to nationals for the second straight year and second NCAA Championship this year as he also competed at the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville, Ark.

Powell makes his first-ever appearance in the preliminary round as the Houston native will compete in the 200-meter dash.  His time of 21.33 at the Texas State Invitational in early April held up as it's the 43rd-best time in the West Region.

The first round of the 200 kicks off on Friday, May 24 at 8 p.m. with the second round scheduled for 7:50 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.  The first round of the triple jump takes place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 25.
