BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – To close out the 2013 baseball regular season, the Southwestern Athletic Conference has tabbed Cornelius Woods (Alabama A&M) and Kyle Schwartz (Arkansas-Pine Bluff) to spotlight the SWAC Baseball Players of the Week.
Woods earns his first Player of the Week honor while Schwartz lands his second Pitcher of the Week award. Schwartz is one-of-three pitchers from UAPB to be recognized at the position after being named on April 16.

Woods helped AAMU secure the final seed of the 2013 SWAC Baseball Tournament sweeping Mississippi Valley State in a doubleheader last weekend. The Bulldogs captured the wins with the scores, 15-3 and 12-11.
Woods went 7-for-9 at the plate while batting .778 during the series. He collected seven hits, six doubles, four runs scored and three RBI with a home run. He also totaled 16 bases.
Kyle Schwartz (4-6)

In a deciding series that would shape the SWAC Western Division seeding for postseason play, Schwartz helped jump start UAPB's doubleheader sweep over Prairie View A&M. He pitched 8.2 innings to guide the Golden Lions to a 5-4 win over the Panthers in game one.
Schwartz threw six strikeouts, giving up eight hits, and four runs (two earned). The wins lifted UAPB from fourth in the western division to finish out the 2013 season runner-up.
