TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Alcorn State University gave up four runs in the bottom of the ninth falling, 5-4, to Indiana State on Friday at Bob Warn Field.

Ryan Fuentes (0-3) was the third pitcher inserted for ALCN (15-37). He gave up four earned runs in the ninth inning to take the loss for the Braves.

Indiana State (15-37) starting pitcher, Sean Manaea, fanned a season-high 11 batters. Manaea threw seven innings allowing just three hits and one walk and two runs (one earned) in his time on the mound. Josh Dove (3-0) closed out the game to pick up the win the final two innings.

Indiana State (15-37) broke the scoreless game in the sixth inning, as Robby Ort a two-out RBI single to center. Sean Manaea retired the first 10 ASU hitters he faced with six strikeouts before ALCN's Cedric Walker broke up the no-hitter on a bunt down the third base line.

Alcorn State came back with two runs in both the seventh and eighth innings, taking advantage of three ISU errors over the pair of innings to plate their runs and take a 4-1 lead.

Angel Polo put the Braves on the board with a home run to open the seventh. He finished with two RBI and a pair of runs scored.

The Sycamores began their ninth-inning rally on a leadoff walk by Koby Kraemer and a single to right acob Hayes before Mike Fitzgerald was hit by a pitch to load the bases.
The Braves tallied one out on Casey McCurdy’s fielder’s choice to first base, as Kraemer was called out at home.

Indiana State scored two runs when Connor McClain singled through the middle to drive in Hayes and Fitzgerald. The rally continued on Tyler Wampler’s single to right. McCurdy beat the throw home from right field to tie the game, 4-4.

The Sycamores captured the win when Landon Curry's sacrifice fly to centerfield crossed McClain.

Wampler finished 2-for-2 with a RBI. Ort went 2-for-4 with a RBI to help lead the way at the plate for ISU.
