BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Southwestern Athletic Conference Tennis Tournament champion, Prairie View A&M University will face No. 13 ranked Baylor to open the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Tennis Tournament.

The announcement was made on Tuesday during the selection show streamed on NCAA.com.

PVAMU (9-15, 5-0 SWAC) will face the first- and second round host Baylor Bears (20-5), in Waco, Texas. The regional match-up will take plase at the Hurd Tennis Center on Friday, May 10, at 6 p.m. This will be the fifth all-time meeting between the programs.

The Panthers make their third postseason appearance after last appearing in the national tournament in 2010.

First and second-round competition takes place May 10-12 and features four teams playing in a single-elimination format. The winner of each site advances to the Khan Outdoor Tennis Complex/Atkins Tennis Center in Urbana, Ill., where the 16 teams will compete for the national championship May 17-21. The event will be hosted by Illinois-Champaign.

The NCAA Tennis Subcommittee selected the 64 teams and 16 first and second-round sites. Per NCAA policy, the top-16 seeds are guaranteed to host and matchups between conference opponents were avoided in the first two rounds of the championship.
