Southern 76, @Alabama A&M 63

Normal, Ala. - Adrian Sanders scored 28 points to power Southern University to a 76-63 win over Alabama A&M on Monday at T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.

Sanders hit 11-of-18 from the floor and hit all five free-throw attempts to help SU (8-11, 7-1) remain at the top of the Southwestern Athletic Conference standings.

The Lady Jaguars hit 45 percent overall while scoring 23 points from the charity stripe on 28 attempts for 82 percent.

Yasmin Fuller connected on all 10 free-throw opportunities finishing with 15 points. Jasmine Jefferson added 10 points and Laneisha Stephens led SU with six rebounds and five assists.

Jasmine Sanders posted a double-double to pace AAMU (6-11, 5-2). Sanders finished with 32 points and 10 rebounds connecting 10-of-15 from the floor. Shundray Davis chipped in 14 points and Clarissa Moore tacked on a game-high 13 rebounds.

SU led 35-33 at halftime and kept the lead for the remainder of the game. The Lady Jaguars led the Lady Bulldogs 70-55 with 3:30 on the clock before securing the win after holding a 74-60 advantage with 1:15 left.

Texas Southern 58, @Mississippi Valley State 47

Itta Bena, Miss. - Teera Williams reached a double-double to help Texas Southern University to a 58-47 win against Mississippi Valley State on Monday at the Harrison HPER Complex.

TSU (9-9, 6-1) shot 35 percent from the floor to pick up its sixth consecutive win in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.

Williams scored 16 points and pulled in 10 rebounds. Kayla West scored 14 points and Brianna Sidney added 13.

The Lady Tigers led 22-14 at the break before MVSU (7-11, 4-3) opened the half on an 8-2 run to even the game at 24 (16:54).

TSU regained and strengthened its lead outscoring MVSU, 29-11, to register a 53-25 score with 2:50 remaining. During the stretch , the Lady Tigers kept the Devilettes scoreless for nearly six minutes while using a 10-0 run.

TSU held MVSU to 26 percent shooting including 20 percent from three-point range.

@Alabama State 54, Alcorn State 46

Montgomery, Ala. - Alabama State University notched another Southwestern Athletic Conference win with a 54-46 decision over Alcorn State on Monday at the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.

ASU (6-12, 4-3) was led by Nakiya Smith's 14 points. Amaria Brown chipped in 13 points and Quentori Alford posted 17 rebounds including 13 on the defensive side to compliment nine points. The Lady Hornets hit 39 percent overall and dominated the boards, 48-37.

ALCN (1-16, 1-7) shot 25 percent and was led by Carolinsia Crumbly. Crumbly finished with 17 points. Au-Juvan Andrews and Tierra Frost tied a team high with eight rebounds.

@Arkansas Pine-Bluff 57, Prairie View A&M 50

Pine Bluff, Ark. - University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff closed out the game with seven unanswered points to outlast Prairie View A&M, 57-50, in Southwestern Athletic Conference action on Monday at H.O. Clemmons Arena.

With the score knotted up at 50, Chigozianyi Okwumbua hit five of six free throw attempts to help UAPB (7-10, 3-4) secure the win.

Okwumbua recorded 13 points and five boards to lead the Lady Lions in both categories. Christina Lasane scored 11 points including a pair of free throws during UAPB's run in the final minutes.

The Lady Lions hit 38 percent from the field despite being outmatched on the boards, 39-24.

PVAMU (6-11, 3-4) hit 33 percent overall while missing all six three-point shots on the night. Jeanette Jackson scored 12 points to lead the Lady Panthers. JaQuandria Williams added nine points to go with a game-high 13 rebounds.
