HOUSTON, Texas - Texas Southern University hit .419 for the match to notch a 3-0 win over Grambling State in Southwestern Athletic Conference Western Division play on Wednesday (Sept. 19) inside H&PE Arena.

The Lady Tigers swept the match completing the sets with scores of 25-19, 25-17, 25-8.

TSU (5-8, 1-0) was paced by Mona Reed's game high 11 kills hitting .556 for the match. Jyra Churchill guided the offense with 23 assists and Veronica Azubuike helped the Lady Tigers with six digs and seven kills. Robyn Shannon added eight kills.

For GSU (0-5, 0-1), April Johnson talled five kills and Tiara McIver added four. Breonna Loud posted six assists and Dorothy Brown registered five digs to lead the Tigers in the categories respectively.
 
Jackson State 3, Southern 0
JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State University defeated Southern University 3-0 on Wednesday (Sept. 19) inside Lee E. Williams Athletics and Assembly Center.

The Lady Tigers (4-11) picked up the win with set scores of 25-19, 25-12, 25-13. After a closely contested first set, JSU held Southern (0-11) to under 14 points in consecutive games to finish the match in three.

JSU hit .491 and Christine Edwards recorded a game high 14 kills hitting .700 on the night. Jenna Siddiqui dished 29 assists with Angelica Kelley posting seven digs.

Marisol Macias led the Jaguars with five kills and Chanda Journet registered nine assists. Michelle Williams led SU with with five digs.
