Reed and Lorenz Earn NFCA All-Region Honors

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced the 2012 NFCA Division I All-Region teams, honoring student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions and Southwestern Athletic Conference Player of the Year Wendi Reed of Jackson State and
Pitcher of the Year Alicia Lorenz of Mississippi Valley State earned South Region honors. Both players garnered spots on the region
second team.
A total of 263 players representing 129 different institutions comprise this season's regional teams, including first and second teams for each region.
Reed finished the season with a .400 batting average, 53 runs scored, 72 hits, 15 doubles, four triples, 10 home runs, 38 RBI and was 48-52 in stolen bases. She is the first Lady Tiger to be named to an NFCA All-Region team.
Lorenz, who pitched the Devilettes to their seventh SWAC title and a berth in the NCAA tournament. She led the conference in ERA (1.48), wins (17), opponent batting average (.166) and strikeouts (134). Lorenz had 15 comlete games and tossed three shutouts.
The all-region teams were chosen by NFCA member coaches from each region, and all the honorees will now be eligible for selection to one of three 2012 NFCA Division I All-American teams. In addition, conference pitchers and players of the year not selected to the regional teams were added for All-America consideration.
