The Alabama A&M men's team competed in the Boston Moon Relays over the weekend, hosted by Tennessee State Univeristy. Runner Reginald Sanders competed in the 800 meter run, finishing in fourth place with a time of 1:7.20. Teammate Donte' McDaniel recorded a time of 14.66 in the 110 meter hurdles, grabbing the win for the Bulldogs.
The Men's A Relay Team, made of up Sean Dlisser, Darius and Donte' McDaniel, and Marion Malone posted a first place finish in the 4x100 meter event with a time of 41.53. Jonathan Sanford rounded out the meet with an individual fourth place finishing the long jump with his mark of 6.92 meters.
Further South, the Alcorn State Braves headed to Starkville, Mississippi to compete in the Jace Lacoste Invitational hosted by Mississippi State University.
Men's competitor Terrance Lewis captured two first place finishes in the 100m and 200m dash, recording times of 10.66 and 21.55, respectively. Senior Alvin Matthews finished the long jump in third place with a mark of 23-06.
Other notable finishes from the Braves including Jacques Caldwell in the 100m (10.91) and 200m (21.95), and Corey Jordan's 400m with a time of 48.99. Stanley McLaughlin competed in the 400m hurdle event (55.82) alongside teammate Shantoni Holbrook (55.92), who also ran the 110m hurdles (15.24).
Just down the road, the Jackson State men's outdoor track and field team participated in the Mississippi Invitational in Starkville, Mississippi.
Standout Anaso Jobodwana won the 200 meter dash with a time of 20.32, setting a track record at the Mississippi Open. He also finished third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.24, and BJ Lee finished eighth with a time of 10.52. Lee also finished ninth in the 200 with a time of 21.37.
Bentrell McGee took second place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.44, while teammate Kenny Boyer follow in fourth place (14.71). Durante Ponder finished seventh in the 400 meter hurdles (54.75).
Louis Varella and Jamie McIntosh finished 12th and 13th in the 400 meter dash. Samuel Rhoads came in ninth place in the 5000 meter run, and Kenneth Hoskins recorded a fourth place finish in the high jump with a height of 2.03 meters.
The Prairie View A&M Panthers headed to Austin, TX over the weekend, where they competed at the Texas Invitational.
Preston Woodard and William Donelson both finished in second place in their respective events. Woodard jumped 15.99 (52-5) on his first attempt, and recorded a 15.65 meter jump with his second attempt. His marks were enough to capture second place, which was the top performance by a collegian at the meet.
Donelson continued his strong performance this season with a second-place finish in the 400 meter hurdles. He ran 52.62 in the event, following with a sixth-place performance in the 110 meter hurdles (14.29). Robert Williams ran a season-best mark of 21.51 in the 200 meter, while Lucio Rosas and Phillip Thomas posted top times in the 3,000-meter run. Abel Simie and Errol Hampton ran season-best marks in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, with the mile relay team running its second-fastest outdoor time of the season.
