Golden Lions Top SAAC Coin Drive Competition
SWAC.org
The SWAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee conference-wide
community service Coin Drive Competition returned this year with great participation and
turnout across the league; surpassing last year's results.
The competition provides an opportunity for student-athletes to be
actively involved and show support within the conference and to the community. The coin
drive began with the SWAC Basketball Season on Tuesday, January 3, 2012 and concluded on
Saturday March 3, 2012. The winning school receives the total proceeds from the coin drive,
to be split evenly between the charity of their choice and their respective Student-Athlete
Advisory Committee.
For the second consecutive year, Arkansas-Pine
Bluff topped the competition, raising $1608.98, followed, again, by Prairie View
A&M. Rounding out the top five, were Grambling State, Alabama A&M, and Southern.
