Even though Mississippi Valley State has secured the No. 1 seed in both the women's and the men's SWAC Tournament next week, Thursday's finale has a lot riding on it for both the Delta Devils teams.
The MVSU women are trying to secure an outright SWAC title with a win at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. The Devilettes hold a one-game lead over both Southern and Alabama A&M heading into their final game of the regular season.
Meanwhile, the MVSU men have won 17 straight games, tying a regular season record for number of wins in the conference. The Delta Devils are trying to become the first SWAC men's team to complete an undefeated conference slate since the 1978-79 Alcorn State Braves finished 14-0 in SWAC play and 27-0 during the regular season. MVSU is currently 18-11 heading into the final game of the regular season.
