A&M Guard Nets SWAC WBB Player of the Week Honor

Alabama A&M senior guard Whiquitta Tobar has been named SWAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Tobar led the Lady Bulldogs to a 65-56 win over rival Alabama State on Saturday night in Huntsville.
The Blytheville, Ark. native burned the Hornets for 27 points and seven rebounds. She also had three assists, three steals and a blocked shot in 27 minutes. For the game, Tobar was 8-for-19 from the field (.421), with a 3-pointer. She also feasted from the freethrow line, knocking down 10-of-12 shots.
Despite leading the league in scoring in 2011-12, it's the first time this season Tobar has been awarded Player of the Week honors. In 21 games, she is averaging 19.7 points per contest. Even though she missed a game injured, Tobar has scored a total of 413 points, which is over 60 points more than the second highest point scorer in the league.
