Stephens of Southern Named SWAC Player of the Week

Southern University junior Laneisha Stephens has been named SWAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week. The 6'3 forward from Donaldsonville, La. averaged 15 points and eight rebounds over the weekend, including a double-double.
Stephens had 15 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks in a 60-59 loss to rival Grambling on Saturday night. In that contest she was 7-for-15 from the floor and 1-for-2 from the freethrow line.
In the Jaguars 65-60 win over Jackson State, Stephens tallied 15 more points, six rebounds, five assists and two steals. She was even sharper from the field, knocking down 7-of-11 shots, while splitting a pair of freethrows.
For the week, Stephens was 14-for-26 (.538) from the field. She had five assists, while only committing three turnovers.
