The Southwestern Athletic Conference named its football players of the week for games played Oct. 29.

CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

  • Kaderius Lacey (RB, AAMU)
    Lacey rushed for 189 yards and a TD on 38 attempts as the Bulldogs upset #1 Alabama State 20-19 in the Magic City Classic. He was named Offensive MVP of the Classic.
  • Casey Therriault (QB, JKST)
    Therriault threw for 398 yards and 3 TDs on 28 of 42 attempts. He also rushed for 56 yards and three more scores in JSU's 44-14 win at the Shreveport Classic over Prairie View.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

  • Armon Williams (DB, MVSU)
    Williams had 15 totals tackles (11 solo), including 1.0 tackles-for-loss (6 yards) in MVSU's 12-9 homecoming win over Texas Southern. The win snapped a 19-game losing streak for the Delta Devils.

NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK

  • J.P. Douglas (QB, SUBR)
    In just his second career start, he passed for 192 yards and 2 touchdowns in Southern's 30-14 homecoming win over Alcorn State. He also rushed for a 37-yard score.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

  • Carlos Sanchez (K/P, MVSU)
    Sanchez provided the margin of victory for MVSU in its 12-9 win over Texas Southern on his only field goal attempt of the day, from 25 yards out. He also made his only PAT kick and punted 10 times for an average of 37.5 yards with a long of 46. Two of his punts were downed inside the 20.
