The Southwestern Athletic Conference named its football players of the week for games played in the week ending Saturday, Oct. 1.
Offense - Greg Jenkins (QB, Alabama State)
- Jenkins accounted for 358 yards and all 4 Hornet touchdowns in a 31-23 victory over Alcorn State. He completed 17 of 34 passes for a career high 299 yards and 3 scores. He also rushed for a career high 59 yards and another touchdown.
Defense - Adrian Hamilton (DE, Prairie View A&M)
- Hamilton led the Panthers to a 31-23 win in the State Fair Classic over Grambling with 10 total tackles, 2.5 tackles-for-loss, 1.0 sacks, and a forced fumble. His 7.0 sacks on the season leads the nation.
Newcomer - Corey Hart (DL, Alabama A&M)
- Hart was insturmental in leading the Bulldogs to a 28-27 comeback victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff. He accounted for 5 total tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, 3.0 sacks, and 3 quarterback hurries.
Specialist - Chris Ewald (PK, Arkansas-Pine Bluff)
- Ewald connected on all 5 kick attempts in the Golden Lions' 28-27 loss at Alabama A&M. He made all 3 of his point after attempts and hit on field goals of 33 and 49 yards. The 49-yarder is the longest in the SWAC this season.
