Corneille, Dunn and Edwards capture weekly honors

Offensive Player of the Week is
Roselande Corneille of Alabama State University. Last week, Corneille was the total package on offense, tallying 41 kills, 20 assists and a service ace at the Nicholls State Tournament. She averaged 2.73 kill per set. Corneille also had four blocks as the Lady Hornets split four matches during the week.
The
Defensive Player of the Week is
Donisha Dunn of Jackson State. Dunn piled up 27 blocks last week (4 solo, 23 assists), averaging 1.69 blocks per set. Dunn posted 10 assisted blocks and a solo in a hard-fought five-set loss to Nicholls State and eight block assists and a solo in a win over Louisiana Tech in five sets. Dunn also had a hitting percentage of of .230 for the week.
The
Newcomer of the Week is
Christine Edwards of Jackson State. Edwards had 59 kills and 39 digs in 16 sets last week. She averaged 3.69 kills per set and 2.44 digs per set. Edwards tallied 15 kills and nine digs in a win over Louisiana Tech and earned a double-double with 22 kills and 18 digs against Nicholls State. Edwards also had seven aces and was named to the 2011 Pro-Mag Nicholls State All-Tournament team.
