News and Notes:
- While the Choctaw Trails in Clinton, Miss. will serve as host to the Southwestern Athletic Conference's Cross Country Championships next Friday, several league members will get a tune-up of sorts on the course as Alcorn State, Grambling State Mississippi Valley, Jackson State and Southern are all set to run in Mississippi College's Choctaw Open, which is held at the conference championship site.
-Grambling State's Hassan Chepkwony and Alcorn State's Angelica Jacobs took the weekly runner honors. Chepkwony has finished no worse than seventh during competition this year, and Jacobs is the first Lady Brave to win the honor twice in a season since Condrea Collins won athlete of the week during the final two weeks of the 2012 campaign.
- Alabama State and Alabama A&M will share the trails with opponents from the Southeastern and Atlantic Coast Conferences when they head to Tuscaloosa for Alabama's Crimson Classic.
- Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M are scheduled to be idle this week.
