2013 MEAC/SWAC Challenge - Game Time & Events Announced

Tickets are now on sale for the 2013 MEAC/SWAC Challenge Presented by Disney and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.

This year's match-up features Mississippi Valley State University against Florida A&M University.

The game is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Fla. It will be televised nationally on ESPN with kickoff scheduled for 10:45 a.m. CT.

The MEAC/SWAC Challenge presented by Disney brings 'More Than A Game' with several additional events taking place, including a high school career seminar on August 29 at Evans High School.

On Saturday, August 31, fans will gather at a pep rally in Downtown Disney, followed by a parade and band showcase at Disney's Epcot.

The MEAC/SWAC Challenge will also honor legends from Historically Black College and Universities during the Legend's Reception at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Game day will jump start with Pre-Game Praise Service at Tinker Field and The Great Tailgate at McCracken Field.

It will mark the first game of the season for the Delta Devils and Rattlers. MVSU is coming off a 5-6 finish in 2012. Its best record since 2006.

The ninth annual game will be the third meeting between the two programs – last meeting in 1990 (FAMU won 28-13) and the first in 1987 (FAMU won 10-0). Florida A&M played in the 2007 MEAC/SWAC Challenge and was edged by Southern 33-27.

The MEAC leads the SWAC in the annual contest, 6-2. The Challenge began in Birmingham, Ala. in 2005 lasting three seasons before moving to Orlando in 2008.
