Mississippi State 1, Mississippi Valley State 0

STARKVILLE -- Mississippi State edged Mississippi Valley in a pitcher's duel on Wednesday. MVSU pitcher Alicia Lorenz allowed only three hits, but the Devilettes managed only three themselves.

Catcher Nicole Burr had two of the three hits, a pair of singles.

Florida A&M 3, Alabama State 2

Tallahassee -- Florida A&M pitcher Jenn Lindsey tossed a no-hitter at Alabama State, but the Lady Hornets still almost won the game.

Lindsey was wild in the opening inning, hitting a pair of batters, issuing a walk and a wild pitch. Alabama State scored two runs as a result, taking an early 2-0 lead. But, FAMU scored three runs in the fourth pull ahead.

Despite a solid outing, Melissa Christmann got the loss. She allowed three runs on five hits. She had four walks and three strikeouts.

Sam Houston State 8, Texas Southern 0

HUNTSVILLE, Texas -- Texas Southern had only five hits in a loss to Sam Houston State on the road. SHSU scored three in the first inning, two more in the third, then put the game away in the fifth inning.

Rebecca Villareal took the loss for TSU. She pitched two innings, allowed five runs on five hits. Four of the runs were earned. Villareal also had a strikeout.

On offense, five different players had one hit each.Thomasina Garza's hit was a double.
