Fort Valley State 86, Alcorn State 78
LORMAN, Miss. (AP) -- Jeremy Sledge knocked down three 3-pointers en route to 23 points as Division II's Fort Valley State defeated Alcorn State 86-78 Monday.
Davey Brandon added 18 points and nine rebounds for Fort Valley State and also converted two 3-pointers. Brandon and Sledge combined to go 8 of 8 from the free-throw line.
Fort Valley State (2-3) jumped out to a 35-29 halftime lead behind a 54.2 percent (13 of 24) first-half shooting performance. Alcorn State shot just 32.5 percent (13 of 40) in the first half, including 0 of 7 from 3-point range.
Fort Valley State built a 52-48 second-half lead before Alcorn State rallied to tie the game 58-all with 10 minutes left. But Brandon and Sledge hit back-to-back 3-pointers to put Fort Valley State ahead 64-58. Brandon converted a three-point play after Sledge's 3-pointer to put the game away.
LeAntwan Luckett led Alcorn State (1-2) with 17 points.

TCU 44, Prairie View 39
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) -- Ray Jarvis scored 13 points and TCU used a 10-3 run down the stretch to edge Prairie View A&M 44-39 on Sunday in a South Padre Invitational game.
Kyan Anderson's 3-pointer at the six-minute mark broke a 32-32 tie, and he had another bucket to key TCU's game-ending run.
TCU posted its lowest winning point total since 1983.
TCU (3-1) made 30 percent of its shots, including just 5 for 20 in the first half, while Prairie View (2-3) shot 28 percent for the game.
Devonta Abron had 10 points and eight rebounds for TCU, including four offensive boards in the second half.
Jourdan DeMuynck had 17 points for the Panthers, who struggled from the free-throw line, hitting 11 of 24 attempts.
No. 21 Michigan State 69, Texas Southern 41
EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) -- Gary Harris made his home debut one to remember for No. 21 Michigan State. He scored 19 points, including 14 in a lopsided first half, to lead the Spartans past Texas Southern Sunday.
Branden Dawson had 13 points and six rebounds, while Adreian Payne added nine points and seven rebounds for the Spartans (2-1), who extended their string of wins in home openers to 36.
Coach Tom Izzo's team also got good work from reserves. Harris' fellow freshmen Denzel Valentine and, in his first action after a lower-back injury, Matt Costello combined for 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and four blocked shots.
Fred Sturdivant had 10 points and 12 rebounds for Mike Davis' Tigers (1-3), who had three players returning home to Michigan. Raymond Penn had 10 points and Kyrie Sutton 11 rebounds.
Michigan State had a 46-10 advantage in points in the paint, showing its determination to run, then pound the ball inside. The Spartans also controlled the game in most other departments: 18-0 in fast-break scoring, 46.7-21.1 percent shooting from the field.
After the Tigers scored first on an off-balance 3, Michigan State methodically pulled away and built a 21-point lead just before halftime. Dawson, Valentine and Payne had impressive dunks, while Texas Southern shot just 22.2 percent from the field and committed 11 turnovers.
The Spartans shot 55.2 percent in the first half, including 5 for 7 by Harris, who built upon hitting 7 of 12 against Kansas. They also had nine steals in the first 20 minutes.
