LORMAN, Miss. - Prairie View A&M University claimed its third consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference western division title with a 3-2 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday in the Nicks Building.

PVAMU (11-18, 7-1) move their match win streak to five games with set scores of 25-13, 18-24, 23-25, 25-18, 15-8.

Breanna McNeil had 13 kills to lead the Lady Panthers and Kelsey Espinosa finished with a double-double, 41 assists and 12 digs. Shanice Faison led the back line with 14 digs and Monecia Preston added 12.

UAPB (8-15, 4-2) was led by Audrey Sherles, Jordan Foyer, Alexis Lowe, and Brea Clayton. Sherles recorded 10 kills and Foyer tacked on 21 assists. Lowe had 11 assists and Clayton led the Lady Lions with a game-high 23 digs.

With the match evened at one set apiece, UAPB claimed the third edging the Lady Panthers after trailing early. With the score, 21-19, UAPB's Alicia Campbell and Courtney Billups each notched a kill while the Lady Lions earned two points from a pair of VAMU attack errors to close out the stanza, 25-23.

Down 2-1, PVAMU rallied in the fourth to extend the match. The Lady Panthers held a 7-6 lead before outscoring UAPB, 13-4, behind three kills by McNeil. Trailing 20-10, UAPB chipped away at the deficit with a 7-2 run powered by five errors from the Lady Panthers to narrow the gap, 22-17. However, PVAMU outscored UAPB down the stretch 3-1 with McNeil posting another pair of kills to win the set, 25-18, and extend the match.

In the fifth and deciding frame, PVAMU led early jumping out to a 4-0 lead from three UAPB errors. Four players contributed scores, including a service ace by Ashlie Jones, to help PVAMU outscore UAPB, 6-4, to hold a 10-6 advantage. UAPB narrowed the gap as close as 13-8, but PVAMU countered, closing out the set and match behind a UAPB attack error and a kill by Bruna Menezes.

NORMAN, ALa. - Jackson State University overcame a 2-0 deficit winning three straight sets to defeat Alabama A&M on Thursday in T.M. Elmore Gymnasium.

JSU (17-11, 5-0) moved its win streak to 15 matches winning the Southwestern Athletic Conference eastern division game with scores of 23-25, 22-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-10.

The win keeps the Lady Tigers in control of the SWAC eastern division.

Christine Edwards recorded a consecutive and her eighth double-double of the season with 28 kills and 16 digs.

Mikayla Rolle tacked on 15 kills and seven block assists. Jenna Siddiqui posted 53 assists and Angelica Kelley finished with 13 digs. JSU also finished with 13 blocks.

Clairissa Moore led AAMU (8-19, 5-2) with 13 kills and Leslie Ekpe chipped in 10. Ashley Forman dished out 39 assists and Mary Carmen-Aponte had 13 digs to lead the Lady Bulldogs' back line.

After trailing 2-0 into the intermission, JSU picked up the third set breaking a tie score at 16. The Lady Tigers used a 7-1 run gaining the advantage from six AAMU errors for a 23-17 lead. AAMU broke the run from a Savannah Blackiston kill (23-18) but Edwards nailed two kills to close out the set, 25-18.

With th score even at six apiece in the fourth set, JSU broke away with a 13-4 run behind four kills, including three straight, and a pair of service aces from Edwards. With a 19-10 cushion, AAMU responded with back-to-back scores (19-12) before trading points with JSU to trail 21-13.

AAMU threatened using an 8-5 spread with Forman and Ekpe ripping off kills to close the gap, 24-20. However, a costly error by the Lady Bulldogs after back-to-back kills from Ekpe clipped AAMU's momentum and handed JSU the set, 20-25.

In the final frame, JSU led 6-2 before AAMU outscored the Lady Tigers 5-1 to even the score at seven.

Three consecutive kills from Ford, Siddiqui and Rolle lifted JSU to a 10-7 lead. AAMU responded with three straight points from a couple of JSU errors and a kill from Blackiston to even the game at 10. JSU retaliated with a 5-0 spurt. The Lady Tigers used a pair of AAMU errors, two kills from Rolle, and a service ace from Dana Yoshimura to claim the set (15-10) and match.

Mississippi Valley State 3, @Alcorn State 0
LORMAN, Miss. - Mississippi Valley State University snapped a four-match skid with a 3-0 sweep over Alcorn State on Thursday at Whitney Gymnasium.

The Devilettes (8-12, 2-4) used set scores of 25-17, 25-14, and 25-19, to pick up the Southwestern Athletic Conference eastern division win hitting .377 for the match.

Taylor Delaire and Brychana Williams each tallied 10 kills. Alexandria Garland had 20 assists and April Brown followed with 12. Jane Peterson gathered 10 digs to lead MVSU's defensive efforts.

ALCN (1-24, 0-7) was led by Tiffany Stewart, Georgia Parsons and Stephenie Williams. Stewart had six kills and Parsons posted 18 assists. Williams finished with eight digs for the Lady Braves.
