BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Southwestern Athletic Conference named quarterback Greg Jenkins of Alabama State, linebacker Cory Roy of Southern, running back Isaiah Crowell of Alabama State and placekicker Bobby Wenzig of Alabama State its football players of the week for October 29, 2012.

Jenkins received the Offensive Player of the Week award for the first time this season. Roy garnered defensive honors, while Crowell was selected Newcomer of the Week for the second time, and Wenzig earned top specialist honors for the fifth week.

Offensive Player of the Week
Greg Jenkins
Alabama State

Dade City, Florida.
Jenkins totaled 276 yards of total offense in the Hornets' win over Alabama A&M in the Magic City Classic. He connected on 10-of-15 passes for 264 yards and a touchdown. He also punched one in on the ground from nine yards out. Jenkins had three completions of over 50 yards, including a
62-yard TD pass in first quarter. Jenkins earned game Offensive MVP honors.

Defensive Players of the Week
Corry Roy
Southern

SR • LB • 6-0 • 229 • Maui, Hawaii
Roy posted a career high 13 tackles including eight solos on Saturday night. The Eastern Arizona transfer also posted 2.5 tackles for a loss of four.

Newcomer of the Week
Isaiah Crowell
Alabama State

SORB • 5-11190 • Columbus, Georgia
Crowell totaled 92 yards and two touchdowns. He had 17 carries for 60 yards and two scores on runs of nine and three yards. He also caught two passes for 32 yards.


Specialist of the Week
Bobby Wenzig
Alabama State
JR • K/P • 6-2 • 185 • San Diego, California

Wenzig picked up his fifth award after averaging 36.5 yards on six punts with one downed inside the 20. He also made a season long 46-yard field goal and converted on all four PATs in the win over Alabama A&M.
