Ala. - The Southwestern Athletic Conference named quarterback De' Auntre Smiley of Prairie View, linebacker Bill Ross of Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Clayton Moore of Jackson State and placekicker Chris Banks of Prairie View its football players of the week for October 22, 2012.
Smiley received the Offensive Player of the Week award for the first time this season. Ross
garnered defensive honors, while Moore was selected Newcomer of the Week and
Barrick was tagged as the conference's specialist.

Smiley passed for 251 yards on 16-of-20 passing with four touchdowns in PVAM's 52-37 win over Alcorn State on Saturday.
In addition, he also rushed for 30 yards on five carries.
Defensive Players of the Week
Bill Ross
Arkansas-Pine Bluff
SR • LB • 6-2 • 240 • Wetumpka, Alabama
Ross had nine total tackles, one tackle for a loss, one forced fumble, and an interception; that he returned for a 60-yard touchdown in UAPB;s 50-21 win over Southern. It was Ross’ first interception of the season, and UAPB’s first defensive score of the season. Ross was also credited with two pass break-ups.
Newcomer of the Week
Clayton Moore
Jackson State State
JR • QB • 6-2 • 215 • Louisville, Mississippi
Moore earned his second consecutive Newcomer of the Week honor after leading JSU to an overtime win over Mississippi Valley. He passed for 131 yds and a touchdown and ran for another 60 yards and a TD. He scored the game winning touchdown on a 1 yard plunge in the second overtime.

Chris Barrick

Barrick had a busy day, hitting 7-of-7 on PATs, He also had a 23-yard field goal.
